Spicy Food News: Popeyes Adds Blackened Ranch Snack Wrap, Cholula Expands Lineup for Summer, and More

Popeyes Expands Wrap Lineup and Makes Them Permanent

Chicken slinger Popeyes apparently has decided to make its competition with McDonald’s on snack wraps an ongoing thing as they have added those to the permanent menu. The Golden Arches turned those into fan favorites a few decades back, then dropped them from the menu, much to their customers’ dismay. They brought them back a couple of years ago, but not before competitors like Popeyes got their own version in the drive thru to lure over customers that once frequented McDonald’s. The chicken chain has a regular and spicy version of the wrap available (you can read my review of the latter here), and now they are adding a Blackened Ranch snack wrap option. Here is the description of the wraps from the website:

Popeyes famous hand-breaded and battered, Louisiana-style crunchy chicken tender. Crisp lettuce, shredded cheese, and two barrel-cured pickles. A soft buttermilk tortilla inspired by the Popeyes famous biscuits, with the choice of Classic, Spicy or Blackened Ranch sauce as spread.

These sell for $3.99 in my area, or you can get a combo with a side and drink for $7.99. And they won’t be leaving the menu anytime soon unless the sales slack off.

Cholula Has Some New Offerings for Summer 2026

Cholula adds three new items for Summer 2026

The world famous Mexican hot sauce company Cholula is expanding their lineup and hoping to have fans chanting “Cho-lu-la!” this summer. With their new marketing campaign, the hot sauce makers are celebrating “the power of our name and our deep Mexican heritage in a way that’s bold, communal, and unmistakable”. This includes three new items “that go deeper into flavor and regional traditions”:

Cholula® Cotija Cheese Cremosa: This flavor is based on cotija, a classic Mexican savory cheese, combined with tomatillos, garlic, and green bell peppers. A cremosa is a rich, creamy condiment that builds flavor on a variety of Mexican dishes like enchiladas, tostadas, and elotes.

Cholula® Cochinita Pibil Cooking Sauce: Inspired by the Yucatán region, this marinade blends achiote, citrus, and warm spices for a bold earthy flavor, perfect for slow-cooked pork or chicken, tacos and bowls. Find it online, while supplies last, paired with Cholula Original featuring wooden soccer ball caps.

Cholula® Al Pastor Seasoning Mix: This offers bold, smoky flavor with sweet pineapple, earthy chili, and warm, savory spices like cumin and oregano, making it a snap to prepare taqueria-style al pastor tacos. As with any seasoning mix, they’re a one-stop shop that simplifies cooking.

According to the press release, these are available online at their website now, and I am guessing they will be hitting shelves at some point this Summer as well.
