Spicy Food News: Jack in the Box Teams Up with Hot Ones, Sonic Goes Sweet and Spicy, and More

Jack in the Box Adds Some Spicy Sandwiches and Munchies

Jack in the Box is the latest chain to partner with Hot Ones, bringing several spicy menu items to the drive thru. Here is the rundown on the star attractions from the Hot Ones menu from their website:

Hot Ones™ Sriracha Curly Fry Burger: This fan fav burger features a jumbo patty, melty American cheese, curly fries, jalapeños, & Hot Ones™ Sriracha all on a buttery bakery bun. Your taste buds are officially in the hot seat.

Hot Ones™ Buffalo Chick-N-Tater Melt: This fan fav sandwich features a chicken patty, hickory smoked bacon, a hash brown, Swiss style & cheddar cheese, cheese sauce, jalapeños & Hot Ones™ Buffalo Sauce all on a warm buttery croissant. Your taste buds are officially in the hot seat.

Hot Ones™ Sriracha Sauced & Loaded Curly Fries: Jack’s curly fries topped with cheddar cheese, cheese sauce, and Hot Ones™ Sriracha. This snack will have you sweating mid-bite.

Hot Ones™ Buffalo Sauced & Loaded Curly Fries: Jack’s seasoned curly fries topped with shredded cheddar cheese, cheese sauce, & Hot Ones™ Buffalo Sauce only available at Jack. This snack will have you sweating mid-bite.

In addition to these, Jack and Hot Ones are also offering the Sriracha Double Jr. Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger, Sriracha Jr. Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger, Buffalo Double Jr. Chicken Sandwich, Buffalo Jr. Chicken Sandwich, and they have Munchie Meals with the main sandwiches that include two tacos, a regular order of curly fries, and a drink (and, I assume, a defibrillator to jolt you back to life after eating all that food). Those also include a Jack Mini Bobblehead or Jersey Keychain while supplies last. In addition, you can get a packet of the Last Dab Apollo sauce (for an additional charge) if you want to kick up your meals even more. These are on loan from Limited-Time-Only-Ville, but they should stick around for a few months.

Sonic Offers Some Heat for Summer

Sonic adds new Tropical Heat Smasher Burger

America’s Drive-Inn has kicked up its menu for summer with a new burger that brings some sweet and spicy. Here is the description from the website.

Tropical Heat SONIC Smasher: Two juicy, hand-smashed patties made with Angus beef, stacked with melty pepper jack cheese and crispy bacon, topped with a Jalapeño Pineapple Glaze – bringing the perfect sweet-heat kick to every bite. Balanced with crisp lettuce and creamy mayo – all on a soft potato bun.

This is, of course, available for the dreaded limited-time-only, but you should be able to try it through the summer months.

Tabanero Adds Spicy BBQ Sauce

Tabanero adds seven new bbq sauces including two that bring some heat.

Hot sauce maker Tabenero–known for its sauces based on habaneros from Tabasco, Mexico–is expanding its line-up with several new barbeque sauces. According to the press release, these offer

A collection of seven chef-inspired flavors made with clean ingredients, locally sourced produce, and approximately half the sugar and calories of leading barbecue sauce brands. Crafted in Florida and inspired by the state’s unique blend of Southern, Caribbean, and Latin American culinary influences, the new sauces deliver a lighter, brighter, more vibrant flavor profile than traditional barbecue sauces while maintaining the rich taste consumers expect.

Two of the sauces promise to bring some heat, and here is the rundown on those:

Habanero Honey combines real organic honey with the clean, crisp taste of habanero peppers for a hot honey flavor that takes wings to a new level and creates the ideal glossy finishing sauce.

XXX delivers fuller-bodied intensity for those who enjoy bolder heat without sacrificing balance.

There is no indication that these are limited time items, so they should stick around as long as sales are good.
