Spicy Food News: The Enchirito Is Back at Taco Bell, Hardee’s Adds Hot Honey Lineup, and More

Taco Bell Brings Back a Fan Favorite

This news is a little late because Taco Bell did not advertise it too much, but the Enchirito is back on the menu for a limited time. Here is the description of that fan-favorite from the website:

A warm flour tortilla filled with seasoned beef, refried beans, and diced onions. Smothered in a flavorful, rich red sauce, and melted shredded cheddar cheese.

This is one of the original items from Taco Bell, but then it started to get pushed out and was taken off the permanent menu in 2013. It has since made occasional reappearances, most recently returning last month, and it will be around until July 22nd. It sells for $4.29 in my area.

Hardee’s Drizzles on the Hot Honey

Hardee's introduces Hot Honey lineup.

Hardee’s is jumping on the Hot Honey trend (though not with Mike’s this time) and has introduced a new lineup that features the spicy condiment. Here is the rundown from their press release:

Hot Honey Hand-Breaded Chicken Biscuit: Hand-Breaded Chicken topped with the sweet heat of hot honey sauce between a fluffy Made from Scratch™ Biscuit

Hot Honey Hand-Breaded Chicken Sandwich: Hand-Breaded Chicken topped with crispy bacon, melty Swiss cheese and drizzled with hot honey sauce, all between a soft brioche-style bun

Hot Honey Tenders: Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders topped with a drizzle of Hot Honey Sauce.

I do not see any mention of Carl’s Jr. in the press release, but both chains tend to have the same selections available. This new lineup will be available until September 8th (or while supplies last), and then it will head back to Limited-Time-Only-Ville.

7-Eleven Adds Hot AF Chicken Sandwich

7-Eleven adds Hot as Fire Chicken Sandwich

And yet more chicken, and 7-Eleven is adding several hot sandwiches to its grab-and-go lineup including the Hot AF Chicken Sandwich (which stands for “Hot As Fire”). Here is the description from the press release:

Hot as Fire (Hot AF!) Chicken Sandwich: Heat seekers, this one brings the kick. Made with an all-white chicken breast fillet seasoned with cayenne, coated in a crunchy breading and nestled between two buns, this bold sandwich packs a fiery punch.

They are advertising this at a price of $4.99, but that will vary by region. And this is available of the dreaded limited-time-only, so you may consider grabbing one next time you fill up.

Wingstop Tests $5 Flavor Cravings Value Menu

Wingstop tests Crispy Tender Sandwich and more on Flavor Cravings value menu.

And yet even more chicken as Wingstop is testing a new value menu in several markets. Called “Flavor Cravings”, all items are $5 or under and here is the lineup (prices will vary by menu):

4 Classic Wings -$4.99

4 Boneless Wings – $3.99

2 Crispy Tenders – $3.99

Crispy Tender Sandwich – $4.99

Regular Voodoo Fries – $4.49

Regular Cajun Corn – $3.49

San Antonio happens to be one of the markets where they are testing this, and I have tried out the Crispy Tender Sandwich (you can read my review here). This tryout will disappear after July 15th, but if the test proves popular, expect a national rollout soon.
