Popeyes was the king of the chicken sandwich a couple of years ago, raking in the bucks for that hefty piece of fried breast meat it stuck into a tasty brioche bun. But the chain set off the Chicken Sandwich Wars and competition has been stiff over the past year. The sales at Popeyes have been on the downswing, so they have decided to do a spin on their popular sandwich and add Buffalo Ranch sauce. Here’s the official description from the website:
The sandwich starts with a juicy chicken breast filet that’s marinated in Popeyes seasonings, hand breaded and dipped in their buttermilk batter and cooked up golden brown. This delicious scenario sits cozy in between buttery toasted brioche buns and is complemented with crisp pickle slices and Popeyes’ new Buffalo Ranch spread.
Now, this is currently on loan from Limited-Time-Only-Ville, so no telling how long it will stick around. But if it boost sales, expect it to be on the menu as long as revenue continues to go up. (Unless that marketing “genius” from Taco Bell that keeps taking the Nacho Fries off the menu jumps ship to Popeyes). The new sandwich sells for around five bucks and a combo will cost you a couple of extra bucks. And they are offering bonus points for the new item if you are a rewards member.
