Spicy Food News: Burger King Adds Mexican Street Corn Whopper, Panera Has a New Sandwich with a Kick, and More

Burger King Has a Spicy New Whopper

If you remember Burger King’s “Million Dollar Whopper Contest” from earlier in the year, the finalists have now been revealed. That contest gave people the change to submit their idea for a fancy new Whopper and the winner will get a million bucks out of the deal. The top three choices are now available at your local BK, and one brings a kick:

Mexican Street Corn Whopper – Created by Kelsie of Nebraska, this features a quarter-pound flame-grilled beef patty topped with street corn spread, lettuce, tomato, Southwest seasoned tortilla crisps, and Mexican spicy queso on a toasted sesame seed bun.

The other two are the Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper and the Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper and you can read about those here. The new selections will only be around for the dreaded limited time only, though, so you will want to try them soon if they sound tempting.

Panera Adds Spicy Chicken Dipper

This fast casual chain has added two Ciabatta dipper sandwiches to its menu, and one promises to bring some heat. Here is the description from the press release:

Spicy Chicken Dipper – This sandwich features a combination of grilled chicken, creamy salsa verde spread, and melty provolone on Ciabatta paired with a dipping portion of our Creamy Tomato Soup.

The sandwich sound similar to the Spicy Fiesta Chicken, which I previously reviewed here, and it has that soup on the side for dipping.  The other new item is the French Dipper, and of course these are on loan from Limited-Time-Only-Ville.

Taco Bell Has “Free” Nacho Fries

Nacho Fries are back at Taco Bell and you can get them free for a month.  Well, not really free.  You buy the $10 Nacho Fries Lovers Pass and you can get a “free” regular order each day for the next 30 days.  So if you go everyday (note that locations are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas), these turn out pretty cheap.  But you know you will be buying other items as well, so the House will likely win in the end.  But if this sounds like a good deal to you, you have until December 2nd to buy the pass (and you have to hope they keep the Nacho Fries on the menu through the end of the year).
