Promoting Independent Producers of Hot Sauce and Other Spicy Products
We here at Spicy Food Reviews want to do what we can to promote the many small and medium independent companies producing hot sauce, salsa, seasonings, and other spicy products so we are offering to run a promotional post on your offerings at our site. We also offer advertising for independent producers on our site at an economical price. If you would like to send a promotional post, there will be no charge to run that and we will also put it on our social media sites. If you are interested in advertising, you can find out more at that here.
Heres’ How It Works:
Send us a short post highlighting your products (see sample post below), and we’ll feature it on SpicyFoodReviews.com and share it across our social media platforms (Blue Sky, Facebook, Xwitter). In return, we simply ask that you:
- Follow us on at least one of our social media platforms (many of you already do), and
- Share one or more of our posts on your own social channels.
We’ll be posting one to two features per week as part of this promotion and will continue sharing each post multiple times over a 30-day period to maximize exposure.
New! Spicy Food Business Directory
In conjunction with the promo, we’re building a directory of hot sauce and spicy food vendors to be published on our website. Each listing will include:
- Your company name
- Up to six of your signature products
- Your location
- Website
- Contact email and/or social media links (multiple welcome)
Below is a sample of the type of promotional posts we are looking for. Feel free to make your own tweaks to the format as needed and we look forward to helping you promote your products. You can submit your post to us at spicyfoodreviews@gmail.com and/or contact us there if you have questions. And if you would like to submit products for us to review, we are always welcome to trying new spicy offerings!

Tabasco Sauce

About Our Company
TABASCO® Brand products are made by McIlhenny Company, founded by Edmund McIlhenny in 1868 on Avery Island, Louisiana. It was here that he developed the recipe for TABASCO® Original Red Pepper Sauce that’s been passed down from generation to generation. To this day, the company is still family-owned and -operated on that very same island.
The diet of the Reconstruction South was bland and monotonous, especially by Louisiana standards. So Edmund McIlhenny decided to create a pepper sauce to give the food some flavor and excitement.
McIlhenny grew his first commercial pepper crop in 1868. The next year, he sent out 658 bottles of sauce at one dollar apiece wholesale to grocers around the Gulf Coast, particularly in New Orleans. He labeled it “Tabasco,” a word of Mexican Indian origin believed to mean “place where the soil is humid” or “place of the coral or oyster shell.” McIlhenny secured a patent in 1870, and TABASCO® Sauce began its journey to set the culinary world on fire. Sales grew, and by the late 1870s, he sold his sauce throughout the U.S. and even in Europe.
McIlhenny packaged the sauce in small cologne-type bottles with sprinkler fitments, which he then corked and sealed in green wax. The sprinkler fitment was important because his pepper sauce was concentrated and best used when sprinkled, not poured. Though we no longer seal our bottles with wax, the sauce inside is every bit as pungent as the one McIlhenny first bottled back in 1868.
Today, nearly 150 years later, TABASCO® Sauce, the basic recipe, the process by which it’s made, and the ingredients remain virtually unchanged. Now the aging process for the mash is longer – up to three years in white oak barrels – and the vinegar is high-quality distilled vinegar.
