It appears that pizza is the new draw at fast casual and fast food joints. Either that, or it delivers a higher profit margin by putting toppings on inexpensive dough or flatbread. In any case, Buffalo Wild Wings has already added two pizzas to its menu and Taco Bell currently has one in the testing phase.
BWW is a go-to place for wings and they have the best of the hottest sauces among the chains in my opinion (more on that here). But now they are taking their chicken and putting it atop the new Boneless Bar Pizzas. They have two to choose from: Buffalo and Honey BBQ.
The Buffalo Pizza include their boneless wings with Medium Buffalo Sauce (though you can ask for hotter) along with ranch dressing, mozzarella cheese, bleu cheese crumbles, pickled hot peppers, and green onions loaded on top of a thin and crispy crust.
The Honey BBQ pizza has boneless wings with Honey BBQ sauce, mozzarella cheese, cheddar-jack cheese, Medium Buffalo sauce, bacon crumbles, and hot pickled peppers.
Both are currently on the menu and go for $9.99 (price may vary, especially if you live in California or New York City). These are visiting from Limited-Time-Only-Ville, though, so get yours while they are still available.
Taco Bell hasn’t even gotten in Mexican Pizza back in stores yet (returning September 15th), but it is already testing another pizza. Technically it may not be considered a true pizza, but the Cheesy Chipotle Chicken Flatbread is very pizza-like. It is topped with baked cheese, marinated chicken, a Creamy Chipotle sauce, tortilla strips, and onions. A spicy version includes jalapenos. Currently, The Bell is testing this in Charlotte, NC locations and will expand it to the rest of the country if it proves popular. I’m guessing it will pass the test because who doesn’t love chicken and spicy sauce and cheese and other stuff cooked atop tasty flatbread? Keep an eye out for this, but be sure to grab it as soon as possible if it comes to a Taco Bell near you because we know how quickly things disappear from their drive-thru!
