Bottom Line: The Dakgalbi Wrap from All About Cha is tasty and savory and quite hefty, and it delivers a nice kick.

I have long been a fan of Asian cuisine, from Chinese to Thai to Korean to Vietnamese and more. And I am constantly finding new dishes that I like, many of which bring a nice kick. Just recently, while visiting Oklahoma City, I stopped into the local chain All About Cha to get a light lunch, and made yet another Asian food discovery. That establishment offers coffee, tea, sweets, salads, sandwiches, and more. One of the items I noticed on the menu was the Dakgalbi wrap, and after a quick explanation from the very helpful server on what it was, I decided to give it a try.

Dakgalbi is a Korean dish made with seasoned chicken stir-fried with various vegetables. The poultry is typically marinated in gochujang sauce (basically a Korean barbecue sauce) along with other spices and can have quite a kick. At All About Cha, they wrap it up in a large tortilla with lettuce and serve it with fruit or chips. They also serve a Bulgogi wrap, featuring marinated beef, and breakfast wraps in the morning with either poultry or meat along with eggs.

I went to the place planning for a quick bite, but this wrap is quite hefty. I thought about saving the second half for the next day, but that didn’t happen because I gobbled the whole thing down! The chicken is well-cooked and tender, and not greasy at all. The sauce has a funkiness, as you would expect from gochujang, along with some richness and hints of smoke. The lettuce and carrots add some freshness along with a nice counterbalance to the spices from the meat. The tortilla is fairly standard but holds everything together well.

Note that it is wrapped up nice and tidy in paper, but there is a surprise at the end. As you get further into that wrap and things start to disassemble and the paper ruptures, a flood of sauce comes pouring out. That’s not necessarily a bad thing as it offers a sort of jus to dip the wrap in, just be aware that it is coming!

As for the heat, it is a little above Mild on my scale, but rather pleasant with a lingering tingle. Some Sriracha or chili garlic sauce would have been a nice addition to kick things up more, but I didn’t think to ask for that while ordering. I’m betting they may have some in the back, so I would advise asking if you place an order for one of these.

There is no calorie information on the wrap, but I’m guessing this didn’t fit into the “light lunch” parameters I was originally looking for. Still, I wouldn’t call this a heavy meal, just very satisfying and I did not regret eating the second half. All About Cha has two locations in Oklahoma City, one in Bricktown and the other on the west side of town. They also brew up a pretty good cup of coffee and the sweets they have in the case are rather tempting. If you happen to be in the area of one of their locations, I certainly recommend trying them out. The Dakgalbi was an excellent discovery and I look forward to trying other menu options in the future.
