Taco Bell Kicks Up Its Nacho Fries with Secret Aardvark Sauce
Nacho fries are coming back to Taco Bell, and they will get a boost of heat from Secret Aardvark’s all-new zesty Serrabanero Ranch Sauce. Here is the description of that from the press release:
Crafted from green tomatoes, roasted tomatillos serrano and green habanero peppers blended with savory ranch; the sauce adds a bold punch of spice to the classic Nacho Fries.
The loaded fries will be topped with the sauce and “premium, flavorful slow-roasted chicken, a three-cheese blend, reduced-fat sour cream, nacho cheese sauce and pico de gallo” and they will be available on April 25th for a limited time only (you can order them in the app as early as April 23rd). And for those who want to try these, I advise getting to your local Taco Bell early. Special promotions like this tend to disappear pretty quickly.
McDonald’s Adds a Cajun Twist to its McCrispy Chicken
The Chicken Sandwich Wars rage on and McDonald’s is firing a new salvo by adding a Cajun twist to its McCrispy Chicken sandwiches. Here is the official description from the website:
The Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy is stacked with a southern-style fried chicken fillet and bold, applewood smoked bacon. Then, it’s topped with crispy and cool crinkle-cut pickles and finished with a creamy Cajun ranch sauce on the top and bottom of a warm, toasted potato roll.
There is also a deluxe version which subs in lettuce and tomatoes for the pickles. These are available for a limited time only and the sandwich sells for around six bucks in my area.
Lay’s Adds Salsa-Flavored Chips
Lay’s has added a new variety of chips that is pegged as a “Limited Summer Flavor”. The Salsa Fresca chips are zesty, crunchy, and tomato-based according to the bag. They are currently available in Walmart and you may be able to track them down in other stores as well. But expect them to disappear sometime around August (if not sooner).
Kettle Brand Spices Up Its Chips With Gochujang
Kettle Brand also has a new flavor coming out with its Sweet & Spicy Gochujang. According to the press release, these explore “the rich and complex world of the popular Korean pepper paste, with a burst of sweet and spicy flavor in each chip”. These are a limited edition and should be available in stores that sell Kettle Brand.
Subway Brings Back Creamy Sriracha Sauce and Adds Spicy Chips
Subway is bringing back its fan-favorite Creamy Sriracha Sauce and making it part of the permanent menu (or at least as permanent as you can expect from a fast food joint). Creamy Sriracha is described as “Subway’s spiciest sauce, combining familiar red chili flavor with a creamy texture that goes great on any sub”. In addition, they are adding a new flavor of Mrs. Vicker’s chips which will be exclusive to the chain: “Baja Chipotle flavored chips combine their signature crunch with the bold smoke and spice that made Subway’s Baja Chipotle one of its most popular and iconic sauces”. Both these and the sauce are currently available in stores nationwide.
