Spicy Food News: Jimmy John’s Adds a Firecracker Wrap, Pringles Ignites TNT Chips, and More

Jimmy John’s Adds Firecracker Wrap and Chips

The sandwich shop that advertises speedy delivery is kicking things up with its new Firecracker Wrap and Chips.  Following is the description of each from their website:

Firecracker Wrap: Turkey, salami & ghost pepper cheese, crushed Firecracker Jimmy Chips, garlic aioli, Jimmy peppers, lettuce, onion, tomato, mayo, & oil & vinegar, in a red jalapeño tortilla.

Firecracker Jimmy Chips: Sweet and savory Jimmy Chips with a strong kick of red pepper heat.

The sandwich sells for $9.99 in my area and the chips cost $1.89.  They also offer a combo that includes the chips and a drink for $13.19.  These are on loan from Limite-Time-Only-Ville, so you will want to place an order soon if you are interested in trying them out.

Pringles Ignites a New Spicy Flavor as a Tie-In to Minecraft

Pringles has a new spicy flavor hitting the shelves which is a tie-in to the popular video game Minecraft. Following is the official description from their website:

Venture through the limitless world of Minecraft with the crisp, tantalizing taste of Pringles Minecraft Spicy TNT that gives you a kick of heat every time. These ingeniously shaped Pringles Minecraft snacks are crafted with a blend of spicy flavors that keeps you reaching for more. They’re a delicious snack inspired by the TNT block in Minecraft.

These are in stores now and only appear to be available at Target in my area, so it is possible that they are exclusive to that chain. These are around for a limited-time-only, and through July 31st if you buy any Pringles can or participating Kellonova products you can upload your receipt to the promotion website and receive 350 Minecoins. (Sorry, I don’t play the game, so I have no idea what that is worth.)

Taco Bell Announces the Chicken Cantina Menu as a Permanent Addition

When Taco Bell released its Chicken Cantina Menu earlier this year, I believe they referred to it as limited-time-only at that point, but they are now advertising it as a permanent addition. Apparently, sales have been quite good (and I have enjoyed what I tried, more on that here) so they have decided to keep it around. However, this is Taco Bell, and nothing is really permanent at that establishment. But if you like the Chicken Cantina selections, you can at least take some comfort in knowing they will be around for a while. Here is what that lineup currently includes:

The Cantina Chicken Menu: This debuts a new flavorful chicken that’s been oven-roasted, shredded, and packed with a savory seasoning of Mexican spices including pasilla and other varieties of chilies. Also, the menu adds all-new ingredients including purple cabbage, pico de gallo, a white corn taco shell and an addition to the brand’s sauce packet lineup, Avocado Verde Salsa. The menu adds five items that will soon be available nationwide to satisfy any craving – any time of day – including the Cantina Chicken Burrito, Cantina Chicken Taco (soft or crispy), Cantina Chicken Quesadilla and the Cantina Chicken Bowl.

Utz Kicks Up the Heat on Its Hot Honey Chips

Utz released its Mike’s Hot Honey Potato Chips last year, and now they are tripling up on the spice with an Extra Hot version of those. According to the website, these are like “the original Utz Mike’s Hot Honey chips but with three times the heat”. I have tried the original version and they are good, but I recall thinking they could use more heat. So now Utz is doing that and I will have to check them out (watch for an upcoming review). I have found Utz at Kroger and Target and they may be available in Walmart as well and should be pretty easy to find on the East Coast where that brand is more prevalent. These are available for a limited time, but the Original Hot Honey has since become a permanent flavor and the kicked-up one could as well.
