Applebee’s Is Selling New Hand-Breading Chicken Sandwiches

Casual sit-down restaurant Applebee’s is trying to get in on the Chicken Sandwich War action by adding its new hand-breaded sammies. Here is the description from the website:

Crisped to perfection, Applebee’s NEW Hand-Breaded Chicken Sandwiches each feature a juicy chicken breast hand breaded and cooked to perfection with various toppings and sauces on a Brioche bun, served with classic fries.

Three versions will be available: Bacon Ranch, Bacon Cheddar, and Sweet & Spicy. The latter, which will be of interest to spicy food fans, includes a hand-breaded chicken breast smothered in Sweet Asian Chile sauce with their signature coleslaw. These are available for a limited time only, so you will want to try them while still on the menu.  The Sweet & Spicy sandwich sells for $11.99 in my area and that includes a side of fries.

Jack in the Box Is Winging It

Jack has had chicken tenders and popcorn chicken on his menu for some time (and he had one of the first fast food spicy chicken sandwiches), but now he is jumping aboard the wing trend by adding Crispy Chicken Wings. These are bone-in wings that are breaded and deep fried and you can get them in three flavors: Classic, Garlic Parmesan, and Buffalo. Obviously, those who frequent this site will be most interested in the Buffalo flavor, and all of the varieties are available in six-piece and twelve-piece orders with Buttermilk Ranch dipping sauce. They sell for $8.99 for the six-piece and $15.99 for the twelve-piece in my area, and these are on loan from Limited-Time-Only-Ville, so you will want to try them soon if they sound tempting.

Goldfish Adds Spicy Dill Pickle

Spicy dill pickle flavor–the next most popular trend lately after hot honey–strikes again and Pepperidge Farms is using that to kick up its Goldfish crackers. According to the press release, “the new flavor is the perfect balance of tangy dill pickle with the spicy kick of red chili peppers”. This is apparently in response to demand for more spicy flavors (keep it up, chiliheads), though these are available for the dreaded limited-time-only. The Spicy Dill Pickle Goldfish will be arriving in stores this month.

Arby’s Has Sliders for One Buck in Their App

Roast Beef slinger Arby’s is offering sliders for a buck as an in-app special, and they have a couple of spicy options worth checking out. The offer covers their Roast Beef, Chicken, Jalapeno Roast Beef, and Buffalo Chicken sliders, but those latter two should be of interest for those looking for some heat. You can read my review of those here, and this is a pretty good deal. There is a limit of five $1 sliders per type, but if you order both the Jalapeno Beef and Buffalo Chicken sliders, you can get ten for $10! The promotion runs through June 30th.
