Review: Honey Garlic Sriracha Crispy Boneless Wings from Jack in the Box

Bottom Line: The Honey Garlic Sriracha Crispy Boneless Wings from Jack in the Box are rather tasty, but they are lacking on the “crispy” and the heat.  The Spicy Sauced & Loaded Waffle Fries do have a kick, though.

Just about every fast food chain out there is scrambling to get wings on their menu these days, both bone-in and boneless. Jack added bone-in wings to his menu in 2024, and just last month, the boneless version hit the stores. There are three versions available, both with bones and without: Classic (no sauce), Smoke Show Smokey BBQ, and Honey Garlic Sriracha. The latter promised to bring some heat, so I decided to give that one a try.

The wings themselves are not too big, maybe two bites per piece. And the breading-to-meat ratio is heavy on the former. On the plus side, these are whole chunks of chicken, not the ground-up stuff, and the meat is pretty tender. They don’t live up to the “crispy” promise, though, as the crust does not deliver too much crunch because of the amount of sauce added to the wings. If I get these again, I would ask if they could put the Honey Garlic Sriracha sauce on the side to dip the un-sauced wings into. As for that sauce, it is like a mix of sriracha with Asian chili sauce, delivering a little bit of sriracha funk along with hints of garlic, and it does not get too sweet.

As for the heat, well, there’s not much. These are at about Mild on my scale, and I would have liked more of a kick from the wings. Still, the flavor was good, and they do have a little bit of a sting. If you add some more sriracha or some chili garlic sauce, that would amp these up rather nicely. And perhaps Jack should consider adding one or both of those as a dipping sauce.

I also picked up an order of the Spicy Sauced & Loaded Waffle Fries, which are another recently added limited-time selection. Those include waffle fries (a new item for JiB), cheddar cheese, nacho sauce, crumbled bacon, jalapeños, and Spicy Good Good Sauce.  (Note that the picture below was taken after I already scarfed down a few fries, so the original portion was bigger.)  The waffle fries did not have too much crispiness, but the toppings may have cut into that, and they were still quite tasty. They had plenty of cheese, and the combination of the spicy sauce (which has a peppery and almost mustard-like taste) with the jalapeños kicked these up to Medium on my scale. I rather enjoyed these and wouldn’t mind seeing them added to the permanent menu, though the potato wedge version of the same thing works just as well.

The wings came up to 400 calories, which is not bad for a drive-thru item (and since these are limited-time, there is no further breakdown of the nutrition). But the waffle fries are 550 calories, so the two together are pushing things for one meal. Interestingly, the wings cost $5.99 in my area for six, while the waffle fries cost $3.50. So you are getting more food for your money with the latter in case you are trying to optimize your spending.

As mentioned, both of these items will be heading back to Limited-Time-Only-Ville before too long, though the bone-in wings have remained available since they were introduced, so maybe the boneless ones will stick around for a while. As for the waffle fries, we will see how long they last, especially considering how much Jack in the Box fans love the potato wedges.
