Firehouse Subs Turns Up the Heat with Hot Ones
Two recent trends in food have been Hot Ones everywhere (even Ragu pasta sauce) and spicy dill pickle kicking up everything (even beer). So what’s next? Apparently bringing the two together, and Firehouse Subs has done just that with its Spicy Dill Hook & Ladder sandwich. They are also releasing the Zesty Garlic Hook & Ladder sandwich as part of the collaboration and here is the description of both from the press release:
For those seeking some serious heat, the Spicy Dill Hook & Ladder features smoked turkey, honey ham, melted pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, deli mustard, Firehouse Hero Sauce, and the one-of-a-kind Last Dab™ Dill Pickle* — a pickle plank marinated in Hot Ones’ Last Dab™ Reaper Edition hot sauce. This is Firehouse Subs’ spiciest menu offering to date and the first time the Last Dab™ Reaper Edition hot sauce has been used in a menu collaboration. (Heat Level 10)
Looking for something more on the mild side? The Zesty Garlic Hook & Ladder packs smoked turkey, honey ham, melted pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, garlic chips, and mayo, with a garlicky punch from Hot Ones’ The Classic™ Garlic Fresno Hot Sauce. (Heat Level 2)
Both of these sell for $10.49 and they are on loan from Limited-Time-Only-Ville. You can check for a location near you at their website.
Panda Express Adds Firecracker Steak and Shrimp
This Asian-influenced chain restaurant is kicking up surf and turf with their new entre Firecracker Steak and Shrimp. That “features tender sirloin steak bites and succulent shrimp, wok-tossed with vibrant red and yellow bell peppers, onions, string beans and whole dry chili peppers”, and it counts as a premium entre (which comes with a surcharge). This is available for the dreaded limited-time-only, but it will be in stores until May 27th or until supplies run out.
Burger King Brings Back a Spicy Side
The King introduced his Jalapeno Cheddar Bites back on 2020, and those became an instant hit. But as drive thru joints are want to do, those cheesy and spicy snacks were removed from the menu by the end of 2022 (like at the behest of one of the company’s marketing “geniuses”). However, this fan-favorite snack which features diced up spicy jalapeño pieces with melty cheddar cheese fried in crispy golden breading is now back, and they are going for $1.49 for a four-piece and $2.69 for an eight-piece in my area. There is no telling how long they will stick around this time, though, so I advise a trip to the drive thru soon if you want to give them a try.
