Spicy Food News: Subway Adds Nachos, Hidden Valley Kicks Up Its Ranch, and More

Subway Now Has Footlong Nachos

Nachos at Subway? That’s a yes as this sandwich chain is going all out with its footlongs–already offering sandwiches, pretzels, and brownies–and now adding nachos. Subway has teamed up with Doritos on its new footlong nachos and will be layering on toppings to that brand’s classic Nacho Cheese flavored chips. Here is the description from the press release:

Subway’s latest footlong snack is freshly prepared to order, starting with classic Doritos® Nacho Cheese flavored chips, layered with Cheddar Cheese sauce and shredded Monterey cheddar cheese, piled with the perfect amount of spicy jalapeno slices, diced tomatoes and red onions and finished with zesty Baja Chipotle sauce. Guests can add rotisserie-style chicken or steak at no extra charge, with the option to add a scoop of smashed avocado for an additional cost.

These sell for five bucks, and on April 10th rewards members can get an order free with the purchase of a footlong sandwich. The nachos are on loan from Limited-Time-Only-Ville, though, so you will want to try them sooner rather than later.

Hidden Valley Spices Up Its Ranch Dressing

Hidden Valley is releasing several new variations of its Ranch dressing, and three of those promise to bring a kick.  Here is the description from the press release:

Kickin’ Cajun Blackened Ranch – ranch with a Cajun kick

Cilantro Lime Ranch – perfect for drizzling on nachos and tacos

Creamy Jalapeno Ranch Seasoning – add a jalapeno kick with this seasoning made with jalapeno, herbs and spices

These will hit the store shelves this week, and the Kickin’ Cajun flavor will be exclusive to Kroger while the other two should be more widely available.

Spicy Snacks

Lay’s has three new fan-submitted flavors on the way from their “Do Us a Flavor” promotion, two of which promise to deliver some heat.  Here is the description of those:

Valentina & Lime – Featuring Valentina Mexican Hot Sauce! Apparently, putting Valentina and lime juice on Lay’s chips is already a known delicacy.

Korean-Style Fried Chicken – Zach noted that he’s hoping for “a little gochujang action” based on the design of the bag, and I couldn’t agree with him more.

These two, along with Bacon & Grilled Cheese Lay’s will be hitting shelves April 21st and will stick around through June.

Meanwhile, Cheez-it has a new flavor on the shelves with its Cheezy Taco flavor that sprinkles taco seasoning over its crackers.  That is exclusive to Walmart and it is around for the dreaded limited time only.
