Spicy Food News: Torchy’s Tacos Adds Torched Bowls, Mike’s Hot Honey Returns to Marco’s, and More

Torchy’s Tacos Has Some Kicked Up Bowls

This Austin-based chain, which is known for its “Damn Good” tacos, is launching Torched Bowls which it refers to as “a new crave-worthy lineup of bold, layered bowls designed to satisfy flavor seekers who are ready to break up with their sad boring bowls”. Following is the rundown on the four new bowls from the press release:

The Broski Bowl (LTO) – Spicy grilled chicken, street corn, cilantro-lime rice, pickled onions, creamy jalapeño ranch, and crunchy tortilla topping

Baja Shrimp Bowl – Grilled shrimp, chipotle slaw, avocado, mango, and crema over cilantro-lime rice

Green Chile Pork Bowl – Slow-roasted pork, pickled onions, shredded cheese, jalapeños, and tomatillo sauce

Chicken Fajita Bowl – Marinated grilled chicken with sautéed peppers, corn, crema, and crispy tortilla strips

The first one on the list looks like it will definitely deliver some heat, and depending which of Torchy’s sauces you add, all of these can bring a kick. The chain has has partnered with internet personality Brittany Broski on these with the headline: “Break Up With Boring Bowls”. The Broski Bowl is apparently a limited-time item, but the others will remain on the menu.

Hot Honey Is Back at Marco’s to Stay

Last year, Marco’s partnered with Mike’s Hot Honey to drizzle that over their pizzas, and apparently that proved popular enough that they are bringing it back and making it a permanent menu item. It will be on the regular list of toppings for the pizzas and they are bringing back the Large Hot Honey Pepperoni Magnifico Pizza for $11.99 (prices will vary by region). In addition, Marco’s will be offering a hot honey dipping cup for the the pizzas and wings. Oddly enough, the latter will only be available for a limited time.

Carl’s Jr. Kicks Up Its Burgers

This burger chain is partnering with social media influencer Alix Earle on its new Queso Crunch Burger. Following is the description from the press release:

The burger features a 100% all-beef patty, charbroiled over an open flame, smothered in a warm, creamy queso, topped with pepper jack cheese, fresh house-made Pico de Gallo and Alix Earle’s favorite chip – seasoned crunchy tortilla strips – all served on a toasted bun.

This is a limited-time item and will likely disappear after the summer months.

Panda Express Brings Back a Fan-Favorite

This Asian-inspired fast food chain is bringing back the fan-favorite Hot Orange Chicken which is kicked up with six times more crushed chilis than the original version. It counts as a regular entree when ordering a meal, meaning there is no upcharge. It appears to be another limited-time promotion, so you may want to head to a location near you before it disappears from the menu again.
