Spicy Food News: Culver’s Adds a New Spicy Chicken Club Sandwich, Whataburger Brings Back Two Fan Favorites, and More
Culver’s Has a New Chicken Sandwich with Some Heat
The midwest fast food chain Culver’s, which is known for its butter burgers and frozen custard, has added a new line of chicken sandwiches, and one has a kick. The new Chicken Club entries offers a variation on their regular chicken sandwich, and that includes a spicy version. Here is the description from the website:
Whole white meat chicken breast is coated in three-pepper spiced breading, then topped with real Wisconsin cheddar cheese and thick-cut bacon. Crispy lettuce, ripe tomato, creamy mayo, fresh dill pickles and a toasted, buttery brioche bun complete this just-hot-enough sandwich.
These are around for the dreaded limited-time-only, so if you have a Culver’s near you, then you will want to pay a visit soon. You can check for locations on their website.
Whataburger Brings Back the Monterey Melt and the Chicken Fajita Taco

This Texas-based (though now Chicago-owned) burger chain is bringing two fan favorites back to the menu. Starting on December 30th, you can get the Monterey Melt Burger and the Chicken Fajita Taco once again. Here is the rundown from the press release:
The Monterey Melt makes its new year comeback, bringing all the heat and melty goodness fans love. This legend layers two juicy 100% beef patties with Monterey Jack and American cheeses, grilled onions and peppers, and finishes strong with Whataburger’s signature Jalapeño Ranch sauce. Spicy, meaty, melty perfection – the Monterey Melt is ready to reclaim its rightful place as the craving champion.
Not to be outdone, the Chicken Fajita Taco is also making its triumphant return to the menu. It features 100% grilled chicken breast in a soft flour tortilla, piled high with seared onions, poblano and red peppers for a burst of fresh flavor. It is a deliciously smoky, savory and satisfying option – and a great New Year pick for those looking for something lighter. Every bite delivers real Southwest swagger.
These are part of the chain’s regular rotation and they should be available for several months going into the new year. You can read my previous review of the Monterey Melt here.
Taco Bell Brings Back Two Fan-Favorites

Taco Bell keeps adjusting its menu, so often that it is hard to keep up with all the additions and changes. And just this past week they brought back two fan-favorite items (though they dropped the Steak and Poblano Rolled Quesadilla). Back on the menu are the Cheesy Dipping Burritos and the Quesarito:
Cheesy Dipping Burritos: A set of two snack-sized burritos each loaded with a full portion of grilled, marinated steak or savory slow-roasted chicken, a blend of melty cheeses, and Avocado Ranch sauce with a layer of cheese grilled to the outside. Served with your choice of dipping sauce: Creamy Garlic Sauce, Creamy Chipotle Sauce or Nacho Cheese sauce.
Quesarito: A quesadilla on the outside, a burrito on the inside. We take a cheesy quesadilla and use it as the tortilla – then wrap it around seasoned beef, seasoned rice, Creamy Chipotle sauce, and reduced-fat sour cream and grill it to golden perfection.
The Cheesy Dipping Burritos sell for $5.99 in my area, and the Quesarito will set you back $5.49. But these are back for a limited time only (which can be very limited with Taco Bell), so don’t wait too long before paying a visit to the drive through if these are favorites of yours.
