A Swicy Fan-Favorite Returns to Panda Express

To start out this all-chicken edition of Spicy Food News, Asian-based chain Panda Express is bringing back one of its sweet and spicy favorites with the Hot Orange Chicken returning to the menu. Following is the description of that from the press release:

Hot Orange Chicken is Panda Express’ fiery take on its iconic original. It features the same signature orange sauce but with added heat from six times more crushed chilies than the original recipe and half a cup of dried chilies — the same scorched ingredient used in Panda’s beloved Kung Pao Chicken. It’s significantly spicier than The Original Orange Chicken and built for fans who want a serious kick.

This arrives just ahead of National Orange Chicken Day on July 15th (bet you didn’t know that existed) and will be around for the dreaded limited-time only. It does not count as a premium entree, so it does not bring an upcharge when you add it to your meal.

Chick-Fil-A brings back the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich

This chicken slinger is bringing back one of its fan-favorites, with the Honey Pepper Chicken Sandwich now back on the menu. Here is the description from the website:

Our Spicy Filet drizzled with honey, topped with pimento cheese and served on a warm, toasted bun with pickled jalapenos.

You can also get this with the regular filet if you want to tone down the heat for some reason or the grilled filet if you are looking to cut down on calories. This one is scheduled to be around through the rest of summer or while supplies last.

Burger King Spices Up Its Original Chicken

Burger King adds the Loaded Jalapeno Original Chicken Sandwich

Burger King recently released its “Whopper by You” fan creation the Loaded Jalapeno Whopper (and you can read my review of that here), and now they are doing basically the same with their Original Chicken Sandwich. Here is the description from the press release:

Loaded Jalapeño Original Chicken Sandwich: The beloved classic gets a spicy twist, featuring creamy jalapeño sauce, crispy and pickled jalapeños, crispy onions, lettuce, tomatoes and American cheese, layered on the signature long white meat chicken patty and iconic elongated sesame seed bun.

They also have a club sandwich version, and you can read about that one here. These arrived at the drive thru last week and will be heading back to Limited-Time-Only-Ville probably towards the end of summer.
