Spicy Food News: Cup Noodles Adds Vampire Noodles, Guillermo’s Salsa Rolls Out Nationwide, and More
Cup Noodles Offers Some Spooky Heat
Popular instant noodles brand Cup Noodles is scaring up some heat this Halloween with a new addition to their lineup. Following is the description from the press release:
Vampire Noodles: Inspired by the notorious creature of the night, Vampire Noodles transform into a striking blood-red color when hot water is added, thanks to natural beet coloring. Paired with a bold hot garlic flavor and savory chicken umami, Vampire Noodles’ visual spectacle and flavor kick are so irresistible that even garlic despising vampires can’t resist it.
This is a limited time offer, but the noodles should be available at stores that sell Cup Noodles through at least October. And for those who think this is a flavor to die for, the company has a rather creepy team up with the leading direct-to-consumer casket company for the custom Vampire Noodles x Titan Casket. You can enter the sweepstakes to try and win the casket (details at the link above) or you can purchase it for for $3,999 if you want to take these noodles with you to the grave!
Guillermo’s Salsa Goes Big Time

Guillermo Rodriguez is known as the sidekick to Late Night host Jimmy Kimmel, and also just recently for his appearance on Dancing with the Stars, and he has his own brand of salsa that will be getting a nationwide rollout over the next few months. Hitting a limited number of stores earlier this year (most notably Costco), the refrigerated salsa has already sold more than one million tubs. Coming up, it will be arriving in Kroger locations starting on October 4th, and HEB will be selling it in Texas starting on November 4th, with more grocers picking it up after that. Here is the description of the three heat levels from the website:
Mild: I may be one of the most caliente men on television, but I understands that not everyone is ready for all that heat. Mild delivers garden-fresh flavor with just a whisper of fuego. Because non-spice lovers are people too (probably).
Medium: Not too hot. Not too mild. Just right. Made with chopped tomatoes, lime juice, cilantro, and un poquito jalapeño. The kind of salsa that’ll tickle your mustache a little and gets you dancing like me after one tequila.
Hot: Deciding between heat and flavor? Por qué no los dos? My Hot Salsa turns up the heat with habañero for a kick spicier than a telenovela plot twist and a delicious taste that’s just as dramatic.
These come in 14 oz and 26 oz tubs, and you can check to see if they are available near you here.
Taco Bell Adds a New Sauce

The Bell is teaming up with Duolingo, the leading mobile learning platform globally, for National Taco Day (October 6th) and they are making it Global Taco Day. And as part of that, they have introduced a new sauce. Here is the description from the press release:
Duo Habanero Sauce: Bright and tangy with fruity notes and a kick of habanero heat, the sauce delivers a vibrant balance of flavor and spice that builds with every bite. Bold enough to match its namesake, Duo Habanero isn’t one to go unnoticed.
The sauce packet is free with the purchase of a Doritos Locos Taco, or 20 cents a la carte. And this is around for a limited time only–which can often be very limited at Taco Bell–so you will want to make a trip to the drive thru soon if you are interested in giving it a try.
Monster Tacos Return to Jack in the Box

As is typical this time of year, Jack in the Box brings back its Monster Tacos in time for the spooky season (they used to be permanent menu items until a few years ago). These are just larger versions of that chain’s regular taco (a love-it-or-hate-it fast food classic, more on that here), and they are currently on special at two for three bucks. Unlike prior years, there is not a new twist offered like the Mummy Wrapped Monster Taco, just the jumbo version of the standard classic. And these will disappear after October, so you will want to grab some soon if you are a fan of the Monster Taco.
