Spicy Food News: Taco Bell Adds Crispy Chicken Tacos and Burritos, Kettle Adds Chili Crisp Flavor, and More
Taco Bell Continues to Lean on the Bird
McDonald’s is finally bringing its snack wraps back next month, but Burger King and Jack in the Box have had their versions of those out for a while, Popeyes just added it to the menu, and now Taco Bell is entering the fray. That taco chain has been going heavy on the chicken lately with its Cantina Chicken menu and Crispy Chicken Nuggets, and now they are adding Crispy Chicken Strips that they will be stuffing into a taco/snack wrap and a burrito. Here is the rundown from the press release:
Crispy Chicken Strips (2 for $3.99): The fan-favorite formula from Crispy Chicken Nuggets is back and bigger than ever. Each Crispy Chicken Strip is specifically designed for extra crispy and crunchy goodness.
Crispy Chicken Taco ($2.79): A harmonious combination of one perfectly crisped Crispy Chicken Strip layered with purple cabbage, crisp lettuce, pico de gallo and shredded cheddar cheese with the choice of the all-new Spicy Ranchero Sauce or Avocado Ranch Sauce.
Crispy Chicken Burrito ($5.49): A full-sized burrito that won’t leave fans hungry for more featuring two Crispy Chicken Strips surrounded by a bed of purple cabbage, crisp lettuce, pico de gallo, cheddar cheese with the choice of the all-new Spicy Ranchero Sauce or Avocado Ranch Sauce.
Spicy Ranchero Sauce: The new Spicy Ranchero is a creamy sauce made with Anaheim and jalapeƱo chiles, tomatoes, garlic, and onion, offering a hint of spice that’s perfect for dunking or drizzling.
Avocado Ranch Sauce: Enjoy your crispy chicken with the classic Avocado Ranch Sauce, a creamy and zesty ranch with a hint of avocado.
The prices can vary by location and you will almost certainly be paying more in California and New York. This new chicken strip menu will be available in stores on June 17th, but it will be headed back to Limited-Time-Only-Ville at some point.
Kettle Kicks Up the Heat
Kettle has a new flavor hitting the shelves with their Chili Crisp Potato Chips. According to the website: ” These boldly flavored, spicy chips start off savory and end with a tingling chili flavor”. These are available for the dreaded limited-time-only, so you will want to seek them out soon if they look tempting.
Slim Jim Partners with Buffalo Wild Wings
Slim Jim is putting out a new chicken meat stick and is kicking it up with the flavor of Buffalo Wild Wings sauces. It will be available in Buffalo and and Hot Buffalo flavors. Allrecipes editor Bailey Fink had the following to say after sampling them at the Sweets & Snacks Expo:
The Buffalo style has a nice kick, but still provides that buttery, rich flavor of Buffalo sauce, whereas the “Hot” style is just that: spicy. Overall, I did enjoy these, and they’re a nice break from regular jerky flavor.
These do not appear to be in stores yet (at least not near me), but they should be hitting shelves soon.
