Burger King is Chucking the Ch’King, Taco Bell Is Bringing Back the Mexican Pizza (For Now)

The Chicken Sandwich Wars have definitely been heating up and it looks like we have a casualty.  According to the Eat This Not That website, Burger King will be pulling the Ch’King sandwiches–including the spicy version–from its menu in the coming months if not weeks.  Those were introduced last year and were compared to the Popeyes line of premium chicken sandwiches (Burger King went after the Popyes business while McDonalds targeted the Chick-Fil-A crowd), though apparently they did not bring in enough people to BK drive thru (you can see my review of the spicy version here).  So the King is starting over again (you can’t not have a premium chicken sandwich available in the drive thru these days!) and is working on another line to replace the Ch’King.  Those will be called the Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwiches, and just like the the Ch’King, they will be available in regular, spicy, and deluxe versions.  There will also be a a Bacon and Swiss version and a Southern Royal BBQ which will have barbecue sauce, carmelized onions, and bacon.  The departure of the Ch’King has not been officially announced yet, but they will likely be leaving sooner rather than later.  So if you happen to be a fan of that sandwich, go get what you can now.  Expect the Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwiches to start appearing on menus in the next month or so.

Taco Bell infamously took the Mexican Pizza off its menu in 2020 then brought it back a few months ago, then promptly ran out of supplies to make them shortly after that.  But fans of that fast food delicacy should know that it will be back on the menu soon.  And it will be permanent this time and will never ever ever ever go away again, ever!  In fact, if you show up at a Taco Bell at 2:01 in the morning it is closed, someone will show up to make you a Mexican Pizza . . .

Yeah, don’t count on any of that.  The Mexican Pizza is returning to the permanent menu, but only until the marketing “geniuses” at the Bell come up with the next scheme to yank it from the drive thru.  (Hey, Taco Bell execs, bad publicity is not good PR and you are really annoying your customers).  September 15th is the target date for the return of the Mexican Pizza, and people may start lining up in advance.  You can read my review of it here, and I will wait until the hysteria dies down before placing my order.  Meanwhile Taco Bell, how about bringing back the Spicy Tostada and the Naked Chicken Chalupa?
