Review: Pringles Los Calientes Rojo Crisps

Bottom Line: The Los Calientes Rojo Crisps from Pringles deliver a tangy hot sauce flavor and a good amount of heat.

After disappointing fans with its Scorchin’ chips for several years (at least in my opinion), Pringles partnered with Hot Ones for their Los Calientes line, which finally succeeded in delivering some heat. These were initially a limited-time offering, but the company brought them back in late 2024, reintroducing the Rojo and Verde flavors while adding Barbacoa to the lineup. I had tried the Verde when these first came out (you can read my review here) and got a can of the Barbacoa a few months back (review for that is here). Finally, I managed to get my hands on the Rojo flavor (I missed that one the first time around), so I could give it a try.

The Los Calientes Rojo chips are based on the Hot Ones Rojo hot sauce, which is not one of their super-hot selections. The chips have a noticeable hot sauce tang that delivers a bit of pucker, with little in the way of sweetness to counterbalance it. There is a slight earthiness, similar to the Verde chips, though not as pronounced. They have the satisfying crunch you expect from Pringles and are quite tasty with a notable kick—more than you might expect from the Rojo sauce.

The heat hits immediately, landing beyond the Hot level on my scale and edging toward Fiery. They don’t quite reach the numbing point, but after eating one serving, your mouth will definitely feel the burn. The average mortal will struggle with these, but those who enjoy some heat will find them quite addicting.

All three varieties of the Los Calientes chips were hard to find at first, but I’ve been seeing them on shelves more frequently now. You can find them at Walmart, Target, and Kroger. And I’m not certain if these will be heading back to Limited-Time-Only-Ville soon, so if you do see them, I suggest picking up several cans of each.
