Chick-fil-A Brings Back Its Lower Calorie Chicken Sandwich
Trying to avoid fried food to start off the year but still craving a spicy chicken sandwich? Well, Chick-fil-A has you covered there as they are bringing back the Grilled Spicy Deluxe. That has a chicken breast filet marinated with a blend of peppers and thrown on the grill instead of in the deep fryer. It comes with Colby Jack cheese, green leaf lettuce, and tomato on a toasted multigrain brioche bun and Cilantro Lime Sauce on the side, and it is a pretty darn good chicken sandwich with a kick (you can read my previous review here). This is around for the dreaded limited time only, though (they know people will go back to the fried chicken once their New Years resolutions are out the window), so plan on a trip to the drive thru soon.
Doritos Has a New Kicked-Up Selection
This brand of tortilla chips has a new flavor for 2025 that is promising a bit of a kick. According to the website, the Golden Sriracha chips are inspired by yellow and green sriracha sauces and bring “tangy and sweet flavors” with “just a dash of heat”. I am not really certain what they are referring with the yellow and green versions of the sauce because that is not something I have seen in the stores too often. And I kind of wonder if this is a slam on Huy Fong because their latest batches have had a yellowish and greenish tinge to them. But I doubt the company would put out a new line of chips just for that, right?. I really liked the Screamin’ Sriracha that was previously a limited edition (you can read my review of those here) and I will look forward to trying this new version. Doritos is in the process rolling the new flavor out now, so keep an eye out on your next visit to the store.
Trader Joe’s Adds Two New Spicy Items
TJ’s is always a good place to find some spicy selections, and they have recently added to new items to their shelves. The Spicy Chicken Nuggets are “breaded nugget shaped chicken breast pieces with rib meat” (basically, ground chicken), and they are kicked up with a cayenne pepper-based hot sauce. In addition, they have added Crispy Potato and Poblano Pepper Tacos which look a lot like a vegetarian version of the Jack in the Box taco. I don’t know if either of these have been pegged as limited-time-only items, but things tend to come and go and Trader Joe’s, so I recommend stopping by soon if either sounds tempting.
Jack in the Box Adds New Wraps
Jack is adding two wraps to its lineup, one of which will deliver a bit of a kick. The Chicken Fajita Wrap comes with grilled chicken fajita meat or crispy chicken strips along with grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, and chipotle ranch sauce all wrapped in a warmed tortilla. The other new wrap is the grilled or crispy chicken Caesar, and they are currently running a special where you get two wraps for six bucks.
Cheez-It Kicks Up Its Crackers with Jalapeno
Another new snack item is joining the shelves courtesy of Cheez-It. They have added the Cheesy Jalapeno variety which adds a chili pepper kick to the already cheesy snacks. This is on loan from Limited-Time-Only-Ville and you can only find these at Kroger, Target, and Walmart, so you will want to grab a box soon before they disappear.
