The Carolina Reaper Tacos are back on the menu at Dairy Queen. These first made their appearance at DQ last year, and they certainly bring the heat (you can read my review here). Following is the official description:
Each taco starts with a crispy corn shell filled with Carolina Reaper-infused Monterey Jack cheese, seasoned ground beef, crisp lettuce and ripe tomatoes. The zesty tacos are topped off with a cool cilantro lime crema sauce to complete the legendary flavor of the Carolina Reaper Taco. The bold flavors on a Texas classic delivers a one-two punch of fiery heat and mouthwatering flavor. With the intense heat of the Texas sun combined with the searing electric energy of a lightning storm over the Great Plains, the Carolina Reaper Taco® delivers a powerful punch.
Of course, these are just on loan again from Limited-Time-Only-Ville, and they will be heading off into the sunset after April 27th. So be sure to head for the drive thru soon to give them a try.
Red Robin Adds Three New Sweet and Spicy Items
Mike’s Hot Honey is everywhere these days, and apparently the burger chain Red Robin has decided to jump on the Swicy (Seet and Spicy) bandwagon with them. They are introducing three new items (including a pizza) that they will be kicking up with the spicy condiment. Here is the rundown from the press release:
Hot Honey Crispy Chicken Sandwich, a hand-breaded and made-to-order fried chicken breast dripping with Mike’s Hot Honey and layered with green chili aioli, fresh jalapeño and shredded cabbage mix served with a bottomless side.
Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza features family-recipe pepperoni, smoked provolone, fresh mozzarella, crushed red pepper flakes and Mike’s Hot Honey, making this the first Donatos® Pizza innovation at Red Robin in three years.
Hot Honey Wings, available as bone-in wings or boneless chicken bites tossed in Mike’s Hot Honey and topped with red pepper flakes.
Note that they indicate the pizza is available only at participating locations, and I don’t remember seeing pizza at my Red Robin previously, so finding that might be hit or miss. In addition to these food items, the chain is also adding a spicy new margarita:
Spicy Passion Mango Margarita, sweet heat meets margarita with Milagro® Reposado tequila, Cointreau®, agave and lime shaken with a kick of jalapeño and sweet flavors of passion fruit and mango, garnished with a Tajin® rim.
The press release does not refer to any of these as limited-time items, but I would advise trying them out sooner rather than latter if they sound tempting just in case.
