Spicy Food News: Spiceology Adds Three New Seasonings, Trader Joe’s Spices Up Fall, and More

Spiceology Has Three New Seasonings on HEB Store Shelves

The nation’s fastest-growing spice company is partnering up with HEB in Texas and offering three new seasoning mixes. Here is the rundown from the press release:

Buffalo Lemon Pepper: A tangy vinegar and cayenne pepper blend of classic Buffalo chicken wings and timeless, zesty lemon pepper seasoning. This blend marries the bright, citrusy freshness of lemon with the bold, spicy kick of Buffalo sauce, creating a versatile seasoning that’s perfect for a variety of dishes.

Smoky Honey Habanero: The ideal balance of sweet, smoky and spicy flavor. This blend is slightly smoky from the smoked paprika, slightly sweet from the honey granules and the tiniest bit hot from the habanero powder.

Teriyaki Takeout: Making its grocery shelf debut, this new sweet soy and ginger blend is Spiceology’s love letter to Seattle-style teriyaki. This ultra-versatile blend is rich with umami, soy-sesame and has a kick of ginger, garlic, onion, brown sugar comfort and real green onion freshness.

These are available for $6.28 in select HEB locations or you can shop for these and other Spiceology products at their website.

Trader Joe’s Adds Spicy New Products for Fall

This nationwide “neighborhood grocery store” has added three items to its Fall lineup which promise to bring some heat. Following are the descriptions from their website:

Salsa Taquera: Our Salsa Taquera (literally, “taco sauce”) begins with a base of diced red tomatoes and blended tomatillos. Of course, we also include essential aromatics, such as onion and garlic purée, plus cilantro, for a hint of bright earthiness. Crucially, some concentrated mango purée boosts the orange color and partners with the sweetness of the tomatoes to balance the tangy tartness of the tomatillos. Finally, there’s the all-important trio of chilis: jalapeños and habañeros for heat, with roasted green chiles to add even more depth of flavor. It costs $2.49 for a 12 oz jar.

Buffalo Style Chicken Meatballs: Trader Joe’s Chicken Meatballs are made with all natural, minimally processed chicken thigh and breast meat that was raised with no antibiotics ever. The Chicken is ground and mixed with mild Monterey Jack Cheese and a classic Buffalo Style seasoning, then fully cooked. It costs $4.29 for a 12 oz package.

Sweet Potato Habanero Hot Sauce: Made for us by a famed hot sauce supplier out of Atlanta, Georgia, each batch is made from a base of vinegar, sweet potatoes, and habanero peppers, as well as a mix of autumnally-appropriate spices like cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and cloves. This marriage of peppery heat and fall flavors results in a one-of-a-kind Hot Sauce that’s as versatile as it is unique. It costs $2.99 for a 5 oz bottle.

Prices will vary by region.  And as is typical with Trader Joe’s, these may only be available for a limited time, so you will want to pay a visit to a store near you soon.
