Spicy Food News: Popeyes Kicks Up Its Chicken Sandwich, Domino’s Adds Spicy Buffalo Mac & Cheese, and More

Popeyes Haunts October with Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich

Popeyes might be leading the chicken sandwich wars, but that chain is not resting on its laurels. It continues to add variations to the sammy that has brought many people into the drive thru, and the latest twist is an all-new Ghost Pepper sauce. Following is the description from the website:

Featuring our slow burning, chili-infused Ghost Pepper sauce atop our classic Louisiana-inspired crispy chicken fillet, the Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich elevates the iconic Popeyes sandwich you love to new heights. This sandwich is scary good, without being scary spicy. But don’t take our word for it, trick or treat at Popeyes to try this scary good sandwich.

This appears to be a limited-time-only item, so you will want to make a visit pretty soon otherwise you could be ghosted.

Domino’s Kicks Up Its Mac & Cheese

This national pizza chain is getting into the mac & cheese business, and it has a spicy version of that available. Following is the description from the website:

Our Spicy Buffalo 5-Cheese Mac & Cheese is the perfect way to add some kick to lunch or dinner — or breakfast, we won’t judge. We start with our creamy 5-Cheese Mac & Cheese, made from a perfect combo of fan-favorite American, Parmesan-Asiago, cheddar, Alfredo sauce, and mozzarella blend, then drizzle on some buffalo sauce to make buffalo mac and cheese that’ll wake your tastebuds right up. A creamy sauce, spicy buffalo, and tender penne pasta. What’s not to love?

This appears to be a permanent addition to the menu, but that just means that it will stick around as long as sales are good.

Subway Spices Up Its Bread

I haven’t seen any official announcement on this, but Subway has a new bread for its sandwiches and it delivers a kick. The Ghost Pepper bread is available at locations near me, and I am hearing that it is showing up across the country. I have not tried it yet, but it appears that this is replacing the jalapeno cheese bread they used to have. I am also not certain if this is a limited time item, but I will be stopping by the location near me in the next week or two to try it out.
