The future is . . . here?
Okay, this may not be hovercars or a transporter that will instantly beam me to Cancun, but having a slice of sauce sure seems like an invention out of the Jetsons (and don’t tell me that you don’t know who the Jetsons are). Startup company Slice of Sauce is making . . . well . . . exactly what you would expect a company with that name to make (it ain’t bon bons).
This all started when the company’s founders were making a family BBQ sauce and came up with the brilliant idea of sliceable sauce. (Does this mean we will have to change the “best thing since sliced bread” phrase?) They started with sliced ketchup (which really sounds weird) and took that to ABC’s Shark Tank where they were awarded a nice sum of money to get their company going. They now offer sliced Sriracha and sliced Secret Aardvark Habanero with sliced Frank’s Red Hot on the way.
This is just crazy enough that I have to try it and I have placed my order for the Sriracha and Secret Aardvark versions (watch for an upcoming review). They have only limited inventory at this point, so the orders are referred to as pre-orders, and I’m assuming it will be a few weeks before I get mine. But it sure sounds funky, so I am eager to give this a try.
If you are interested, you can place a pre-order at the company’s website. They sell for $5.99 for a package of ten slices and a nominal shipping fee will get added as well. And if you order three or more, right now you get 10% off with the code SHARKBAIT (act quick, that could expire at any time). The ketchup, Sriracha, and Secret Aardvark varieties are currently available for order, and the Frank’s Red Hot will be available at a future date.
