Burger King Will Add a Spicy Fish Sandwich to the Menu

The King has been spicing up chicken for years and has recently dusted some of its menu favorites–like the Whopper and Chicken Fries–with Ghost Pepper seasoning. But now the chain is bringing the heat to a totally different menu item. Starting on Valentine’s Day (which also happens to be the same day that Lent kicks off), Burger King will be adding the Fiery Big Fish Sandwich to its menu. That follows the same template as their Big Fish sandwich, which has White Alaskan Pollock with crispy panko breading, sweet tartar sauce, lettuce and crunchy pickles on a brioche-style bun, and it also adds a spicy glaze. Personally, I am a big fan of fish sandwiches and I love it when the fast food joints spice them up because this is the perfect protein for adding some heat (and I’m getting bored with all the spicy chicken out there). This sandwich is on loan from Limited-Time-Only-Ville, though, and will head back out to sea after Lent is over.

Crunchy Buffalo Joins the Cheetos Flavors

It sure seems like there are quite a number of Cheetos varieties out there, but apparently, Lay’s thinks we need yet another.  Just in time for the Super Bowl, that snack company is unveiling its latest flavor: Crunchy Buffalo.  These combine Buffalo wing sauce with standard Cheetos (surprisingly not the Flamin’ Hot version) and promise to bring a kick to your snacking.  These are allegedly coming to the shelves full time–as opposed to a limited try out–though they will only truly be permanent if the sales justify it.

Doritos Dinamita Are Back

Lay’s is not stopping at Cheetos as they are also relaunching the Doritos Dinamita line with a new shape (sticks) and five varieties.  Here is the lineup:

  • Doritos Dinamita Chile Limón is the OG Dinamita, rolled for extra crunch and boasting a tangy, citrusy heat.
  • Doritos Dinamita Flamin’ Hot® Queso is rolled in the original form and packed with explosive cheesy flavor, spicy heat and an extra crunch.
  • Doritos Dinamita Smoky Chile Queso offers a uniquely robust queso flavor and a smoky, spicy kick in the brand-new shape, Dinamita sticks.
  • Doritos Dinamita Tangy Fiery Lime bursts with sour spice, zesty lime and crispy chomp in the new sticks form.
  • Doritos Dinamita Hot Honey Mustard combines bold, tangy mustard flavors and a hot honey kick in the new sticks form.

A special Super Bowl commercial is planned for the launch, but these are available in stores now.  There is no word on whether these will expire at some point and return to Limited-Time-Only-Ville.

Jack in the Box Is Testing Out Birria Tiny Tacos

Birria tacos are all the rage these days, and apparently Jack in the Box has decided to combine that with their Tiny Tacos.  The fast food chain is testing these in the Monterey and Salinas areas in California as well as the Reno area in Nevada.  These are essentially just Jack’s standard Tiny Tacos–regular or loaded–and they come with a “Birria-style” dipping sauce.  Typically that is a rich, beefy broth, but my guess is that Jack’s version will be more like a salsa or hot sauce.  If you live in the testing areas, you can try these out for a limited time.  And the rest of us will have to hope that eventually they will get a wide release across the country.

Jalapeno Joins the Kraft Singles Lineup

If you are a fan of Kraft Singles and spicy foods, you are in luck with a new variety the company will be releasing.  Three new flavors are being added to the lineup and one of those brings a kick.  The Jalapeno Singles are the ones that spicy food lovers should enjoy, and Kraft is also releasing Garlic & Herb and Caramelized Onion flavors.  These will be in stores soon and allegedly will not be sent back to Limited-Time-Only-Ville (unless they don’t sell well).
